KL Experts Please Help

Post by mazdamx »

Alright I am having some problems with my ZE that I bought recently. The car ran with the K8 ecu when i bought it. I tried to solder a probinator chip in my K8 ecu and it either is a bad chip or a bad solder job, well maybe. So I deceided to buy a chipped ecu from a member here on the boards that I know works and It still wont start up.

Video of it trying to start.

Any ideas? Im trying to track down a K8 ECU ASAP and need to have it by saturday morning.

I have been helping Dan with this and from what I can see it is not a vac issue. I am leaning towards a fuel/spark/ecu issue. There is spark though according to him from the disty and the disty has not been touched. I have also informed him to check the starter as it should not sound like that. There could be a fuel issue or a ECU problem at this point. If anyone has insight to his issue please feel free to help.

mazdamx wrote:Hey I have couple of questions seeing how you did your motor swap. My car ran with the stock K8 ECU but when I switched to the probinator chipped ECU the car will not start. I found http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh30 ... C03499.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , and I now know where the vacum lines go but I was told this would not keep it from starting. Also I dont think my ZE has the 3rd coolant temp sensor, but again I was told this would not keep it from starting. I have tried reseting the ecu, with disconnecting the neg battery cable and holding the brake for 30 seconds and still nothing. I have also found two plugs in the rear of the engine, you can see them in the pic here http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh30 ... C03501.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in the middle just below the strut bar, I think one is for the egr and the other I have no idea, but Im not even sure about the one being for the egr which I dont need. Another thing is that on the drivers side of the radiator, where I would assume should be a hose going from the nipple to somewhere on the block there is nothing from radiator. You can see it in the far left of the picture here http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh30 ... C03499.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .These are the only things I have found that might be the problem but It started with stock K8 ECU before the probinator chipped ecu was put in. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

it should look something like this

If he pulles his fule line off just befor the injector rail and puts it in a clear pop bottle/container. then turns try and turn the car over to see if there is fule supply to the injectors..

He could also spray a little gas into the t/b or ( or pull the plugs ) and try to turn over to see if there is spark in the motor. (however this can be dangerous if you spray two much)

I still think its an issue with his fpr/ fule supply.

I disagree, I have my FPR hooked up to my IM just like he does and my car works fine, it still reads reletive manifold pressure either way. But it is worth a try if he has those original connectors

Well I was talking to him and he says that he attempted a MS install. Had extended some wires and then re connected them. I believe the issue is with the wires or the ecu. Doublecheck the wiring if you can Dan and go from there

Well i cant really help over the internet but after all that cranking, do you smell any fuel at? if not then Fuel is the problem... thats what it sounds like.

But like people have said check your timing belt haha it shouldn't sound like that when cranking.
