I cant seem to get the steering wheel off.
I wanted to fix my wiper thingy but cant get the wheel off

what part of the wiper is broke? you will need a steering wheel puller. some people will say grab hold and pull hard and jerk it, just be careful you dont smack yourself in the face, this way only works with certain steering colums, on others it will do some damage. i pulled mine of with force.

I find the safest way is to loosen the nut till it is almost ready to come off, kinda stops the wheel before it hits your face
it does take a LOT of force if it has never been removed before

....or you could take it to a garage

The best way is to get a steering wheel puller.
I tried pulling the steering wheel off...but no luck...
Although I really didnt try really hard because I was afraid I may pull something else loose somewhere else.
You can get a puller from Autozone, Advance, Murrays, etc.
Its about 60-80 to rent it.
You have to pretty much pay for it in full and when youre done bring it back for a full refund.

This one was 68 to rent/buy
Plus it was brand new.


What you want to to is take apart the horn pad by removing the screws behind it on the steering wheel.
Disconnect the horn and you should have something looking like this.

Afterwards, remove the center nut then take two bolts from the puller kit and attached like this with the H shaped tool.



Take the main center bolt from the puller kit and attached it through the hole in the center of the H tool. Tighten this until it reaches the top end of the steering wheel bolt.


Tighten the 2 end bolts just so its snug...but dont over tighten it.

Then take a wrench or a socket and start to tighten the center bolt...after about 5-10 turns the steering wheel will come off the spines with a POP.

that does look pretty good, i have made up a miata cluster for my car (plug and play), just going to fiberglass the dash this winter, i have to cut the hood like yours to make it fit, about 1" too tall. nice write up as well, should edit it and sticky.

At Canadian Tire, they have a "rent-a-tool" program where they have a bunch of tools, all they do it charge you full price for it when you rent it, then refund it when and if you return it, so it costs you nothing. I guess thats only if you live here in Canada though.

here in America, we have NORMAL stores like Autozone and Advanced Auto that does the tool rental program. Same deal.

If you're having problems finding Canadian tire, it's prolly next to the Tim Hortons.

And the Tim Hortons are anywhere an intersection exists.
