Giving up on Koni; questions re: zx2 struts

Post by nightfire »

Ok I've given up trying to get ahold of some Konis.. it's just not happening. Now people are telling me not to expect anything before mid-august.

Are the ZX2 struts my next best bet? I have the Eibach pro kit ready to install. I need 4 new upper mounts/bearings as mine are all completely worn (already had to replace one that cracked right through).

Do they have the ABS sensor bracket? I'm going to pull my ABS eventually but I want to keep the sensors in place in case I need to take the car to Ontario.

Can anyone recommend a place to order them from near Montreal/Ottawa?

Any other suggestions? I don't care about cost. I just need to get my suspension done because my ride is seriously dangerous right now... I'm doing my KLZE swap some time around July 20 and I fear a 700km drive to Waterloo for it with my blown shocks and 1 sagging spring.

Not all dealers in the MTL area can/will order FRP parts. Chomedey in Laval and Boisvert in Boucherville are 2 that I know of that are authorized FRPP dealers.

No they don't have the ABS brackets the Bracket on the ZX2 are attached to the spindle assy.

The other option is Tokico blues. R. Thibert usually has these in stock down in their warehouse in Mercier and have trucks all over the city make drops to all there dealers.

This might help you too. I bought mine from the same dealership and they shipped them out to BC for me since my local Ford dealership seemed incapable of understanding Ford Racing part numbers.

I found that oemfordparts.com was my best bet to, they came just under 200 shipped for me, and I live way the hell up in saskatoon canada. Also, you can use a zip tie to keep the cable on, or buy a bracket, or weld on the old bracket.

Eibach prokit matches up good with the ZX2's (Pretty sure ZX2's were made for those springs)

And your car doesnt' have 4 bearings, only two in the front (you dont' steer with your back wheels...do you?)

What are the appropriate years? Also the corresponding part numbers? The part numbers on the sticky in the FAQ dont' work when I input them. Thanks

Ok, this is what I did and I recommend that you do it as well. I had my dad go to the largest ford dealer around (brown bros. Ford in Vancouver BC) and I had get me a Ford Racing Parts cataloge, inside was the struts for the ZX2, so I had him order the set for me and it was 240$ CAD shipped, there is only one type of set you can get. They are all black Tokico's.

As for the mounts, I went to a local parts store and ordered the rear mounts from a MX3 and the front mounts and thrust bearing from a 97 escort zx2. That is all I had to do to make mine work.

*Edit*

Oh yea, as for the ABS, they dont come with it, but the bracket is stupid, just zip tie the wire to the body of the strut, works the same.
