Is a 1.5inch drop good if I am going to put on 18s?

Post by Juans_93_MX3 »

I plan on putting 18s on my car but I am wondering, would 18s be too big with a 1.5 drop?

Nope, I had a advertised 1.3" drop and it settled at like 1.8" and still had lots of room, never rubbed. I was running 215/35/18 , but, if you have not got the rims yet dont buy 18's they are sooooo bumpy and they dont look that good IMO unless they have a spoke that curves in.

The spokes on mine curve in

So if I buy 1.5inch lowering springs the car will settle in at 1.5 right? Or would it settle in at like 2inches?

It will proly settle to 1.8"- 2" area, that will be ok still, the 18's in comparison to your 15's with stock tires are not to much different

I hear that with 18s my ride is going to suck though
Anyway, I only plan to use them for looks
Sometime within the next couple months I am looking into getting a KLZE and a 5speed swap.
When i go to the track I will just put the stock wheels back on

Anyway, I only want a 1.5inch drop.
What do you guys recommend? A 1inch drop so that way it settles in at 1.5inch?

Yea, try going with suspension techniques springs, they are a 1.3" drop and settle at 1.8". Eibach is also a drop that lowers just below 1.5" as well.

you will be fine with the 18s. Just make sure that the offset of the wheels are approx 38mm.

I have had the eibachs and they seemed to have settled more than 1.5 inches in the front. i love the look but i have rubbed a little and i ride with 195 50 15 in front. 205 it front will rub inside during turns with my setup.

currently it only rubs on the splash guard with a level change in the road, and this might be due to a old suspension.
