I am pretty sure the srt4 has a resonator and no mufflers. Thats what I have heard.

If you have the 4cycl, then go for a 1991-1993 protege LX 1.8L oem muffler, and get them to hide it as high as it will go, then get a nice tip on the end. Only cost me $120 cash.

well i found the defender brand one at auto zone for 27 dollars. im sure it will be alot quieter then my canister shaped one. what do you think?

The canister is not even that bad, it kinda depends whats infront of it, do you still have all stock piping? Consider putting in a resonator if you want to quiet it down.

do NOT cut off your stock resonator, you will regret it.
I did, and ended up putting a second muffler (baffled) in front of my other one to quiet the exhaust.

Hey, I feel ya, I had some glass packs on a saturn that burnt out and gave it that buzzing sound, I'm looking for the same affect, I ended up getting a fireball muffler off ebay, it has one of those silencers, which is a joke because if you take it off the silencer isn't much smaller than the actual outlet of the muffler. It seems like it might have a lot of packing in it to quiet that buzzing, I'll let you know how it goes after I get it installed. it was only 10 bucks and about 20 or 30 shipping

you might also try cold air and doing a bigger exhaust pipe from the cat back, narrow pipe is kind of the culprit of that nasty bumble bee buzz. The bigger the pipe the deeper the growl. I wouldn't go over 2.5 inch though

welp, i got a price for a resonator installed for 45 bucks and it is a different pipe like 2 inches with no cat or resonator.
