i'm preparing to do a bp swap into my 93 1.6 sohc? so i'm trying to get all the facts together before i do it

I went to the junkyard yesterday and walked through the entire foreign car section looking for a protege. I found one...but i also found a early 90's miata w/151k miles? and i'm wondering if i can use that for my swap instead because the miata motor has soo much more performance parts available? so tell me if this is dooable? with a $600 budget..the motor will cost me $175
Thanks

No.

The early Miata motor was a 1.6L, DOHC B6 not a BP.

The Miata BPs require too many mods to make it compatible for a FWD. Oil pump, oil pan, other misc things... This will break your budget.

Somethings will not fit due to the orientation of the engine things will just not physically fit- like the Superchargers and stuff...

And, anything available for the Miata BP will fit the Protege BP- so the idea of it having more performance ability is just not true.

Find a 90-94 Protege LX or a 91-95 Escort GT (preferably the Protege LX) and get everything you can off of it.

The swap CAN be completed for $600 if you are a smart shopper.
