Post by Bochek »

Well i picked up a complete GS rear subframe so im planing on makeing a few of these sence i broke the endlinks getting them off.

Just wondering if anybody thinks this will work or not. Im looking at about $20 per side. and they will be adjustable.

A few racing peeps on here use them (Luc and some others), but say that they wear out quickly if you don't use a high grade joint. It will also make the car a rough ride, FYI.

I guess I read wrong or something. I thought you were doing more than just endlinks.

I`m interested for sure, as long as they are bolt-on.

they will be close to bolt on, you will have to file or drill the holes in your swaybar and suspension arm to fit a 0.4375" bolt through the hole. the origional size is 0.393"

i wont be getting the parts for about 2 weeks, there on backorder. i also had to buy TWO taps to make the turn buckels, 7/16-20 LH and 7/16-20 RH the left hand one was over 12 bucks. where the right hand one was only like 5 or 6 bucks, lol figgures. oh well, only need them once to make all the pieces, so by the looks of things they will be about 20-25 bucks EACH or about 40 bucks for a pair.

They are teflon lined heim joints that are labeled "ware resistant" so they should last a while. None the less they are way cheaper then oem ones that seem to break constantly.

I wont be selling any untill i make my self some first and verify the quality of them. i dont want to sell any garbage and get people pissed at me.

il will keep everyone updated on how its going.

Unless they are stainless they will rust, teflon insert or not, the ball will rust and chew through that teflon. Especially for us in the salty winter

If your going to do it, i would reccomend going the stainless route. I have had these on for just over a year and they are still shiny.

http://www.mx6.com/forums/showthread.ph ... +end+links

I priced parts out from a few places and couldnt come close to what he charged me = $100 for all 4 corners. Although I dont really have contacts in the Auto industry...and when i got these ones i showed them to John who said he could prob source some aircraft grade parts from his work for cheaper.

It is up to you, if you want a temp fix go steel, if you want a perm fix go stainless.

stainless heim joints are a bundle, it would be more expensive then the factory ones. a good set of rubber boots over these packed in greese will keep all the water out.

Dip them in water to see if they rust. If they do I'd hold off on all the work and get SS. They could be hot coated to prevent rust though and a quick dip could save you alot of work.
