OK So here is the story. NO company makes a LAMBO kit for the MX3, well SOME people have actually custom made some but they are VERY RARE and VERY EXPENCIVE!!! Well my buddy Alex found a guy in Trenton (an hour and a half away) that had a set and was selling them. So on to Trenton we went to get these hignes. Now the plan was for me to buy 1 and Alex buy the other (the MX3, Protege, 323, and Escort are all on the BG chassis) we were going to get our buddy who works at a tool and die place to make sets of these at his work and sell them off as a bolt on kit! SO first thing was first, install 1 on Alexs car which worked out good, some hammering and grinding were needed but we got them to fit fine! NOW for my car FIRST EVER ATTEMPT ON A 323!!! I soon found out that the MX3 and 323 DO NOT have the same measurment for the door hinges!! I almost cryed then sat for a LONG a-- time trying to make them work without cutting them ( we need to make duplicates first) so I got them to work but the gas strut was about 1/2 an inch away from my front wheel, so it was do dangerouse for me to use them like that! SO here you go The first EVER ATTEMP ON A 323 LAMBO DOORS!!!

PS: I will be getting the first duplicate set and making them work!!

Way to go Colin! Although I personally won't get a set, there are ALOT of people waiting for these types of kits. As for your 323, do you think you'll be able to modify them to fit or use difference struts?

Colin and the most original "JDM" 323!

I <3 JDM!

I would love a set if I didn't have to hack and slash my freshly painted car.

all the bending and denting is done under the fender, where you cant see it.

Do they go any higher? bending down to get out of the car can get annoying. Hard enough for a tall person to get out already :)

Colin, if I'm not misstaken these are the same ones you got from Waide in Trenton, right? Which I believe are the ones that were made by Shea Brown. We all know Shea Brown don't we? If not, try a search and you'll be a little more informed as to the history behind these hinges. Not to rain on anyones parade, but these were never designed or built to be a direct bolt on affair. Quite the opposite. There will be a substantial bit of hammering, cutting and cursing along the way. This is not one of those mods that one can do a complete and clean job of during a single weekend. It's not for the creative and resourcefully challenged individual. Now if Colin does take the originals to a tool and dye man, gets duplicates made, then modifies those duplicates so as to be a fully integratable, fully bolt -on type of system, then, take them to the tool and dye guy again for the final copy. Once that's done a final trial fit on another MX to see just how bolt on it can be and you've done your R&D and you'll have line-ups awaiting for this much refined and elusive mod. Way to go guys, love to see that creative pioneer spirit still lives. Keep us posted.

I'll take a set....any idea on a price yet, if you get them to the point of resale, are they coming with or without shocks?

No prices yet cause we have to find out how much a place will charge for copies! and yea, I figured that they would need some hammering and such, but honestly I got them on in about 2 hours to fully open and close. I know the BG chassis inside and out (I know the MX-3 is not a full BG chassis but you know what I mean)! anyway I will keep you updated on progress!

do the doors still swing open normally, and up? cause that would be sweet.

Sometimes I get a stupid truck or van park so close to my drivers side that I have to get in the passenger side!!!!! I hate busy parking lots..... If I could swing it up - that would be very nice

Well, I would love to get a set once I get an MX-3 lol, once I get a set, I fairly good at machining things, and I could probably make them at cost, depending on what is involved, it could only be 20-50 dollars. Or if you could send me the plans that would be great, I will see what I can do, my e-mail is brianv@cogeco.ca
