ok i got an engine thinking that it was a bp... turns out that the engine is a b8 dual overhead cam with about 127hp. does anybody know if this engine is easy to put in and if it is any good? the motor is already paid for and stuff so nothing much that i can do besides put it in... lemme know any info would be great

Umm I think your mistaken. A BP is a 1.8l with 125-7ish hp. What did the engine come out of?

If it is a '95 or later from a FWD car the HP was listed at 122HP in the 323/ Protege sales specs in 1995.

Could be a BP rather than a B8.

The B8 was the SOHC version of the 1.8L motor.

The BP was the DOHC version.

That should be a BP then. Given the SOHC motor in thosed was the 1.9l for escort motor. Its a fairly easy swap usually you might want to look read the FAQs and do some searches on it.

Ummmm yeah the 1.9 was not even related to the B series lol. The 1.9 was Ford's design. The 1.8 SOHC is a B8. You can find them in the non LX Mazda Proteges.

well i got the motor and i looked at it and it had a fat ford emblem on it and i thought that the bp motor was a mazda engine... but it is a DOHC so i dont know... my friends putting it in so i should find out today or tommorow

No it is a BP ford just puts there va;ve cover on it lol

ok finally got the motor in last night... but i ran into a problem with the injectors... somethin about the plugs not matching? any of you guys got any tips?

did you get the fuel injector harness with the motor?

hey guys thanks for all the help with this thread... bad news though i got everything good and started it up and the head gasket blew... lol... wells i guess it was sitting too long
