If ur looking to get the kit and thats all, no upgradeing any other part. No it will not get ur sohc mx-3 SHAT loads of power maybe a increase of 50hp depending on health of ur engine. Reason being cause it wil be at low boost 3-4psi. without proper engine mangement u can't really boost more than that due to factory spec. Low boost to be in the safe side or BYE BYE engine. But if u plan on upgradeing the nessary parts it has the potical (iam a bad speller) 2 make it in the 200hp-300hp range. At RM they are planing on finding out what the 1.6 sohc can really do. There goal is to hit 300WHP if the engine can do it great prove its not a POS motor if it can't the MX-3 cumminty was right its a POS motor. (POS meaning Peice of sh iT) as far as i know turbo ric want it to be done ASAP.

I dont think anyone called it a POS motor(i know i did not) i just think you will be hard press to get a reliable 300hp with out uprading the bottom end.

i just read or have read people calling that engine type a POS or something in that terms. i like it, beating my share of cars on my sohc mx-3. but there are these that belittle it and know nothing about the engine other that its 88HP. bottom end the same as a maita 1.6. but i'll some find out if the engine has handle these #'s or if it can't.

Yes it can for a good while as long as it has piston oil squirters. See my article about the B6 rods...they took around 400WHP for a little over 10,000 miles of daily drivining and floging! I'd HIGHLY recommend upgrading to a Quality MLS head gasket, ARP head studs and ARP rod bolts for the ultimate low budget reliability for sustaned 300-400 WHP. It has more to do with tuning than anything

I thought it was basic knowlege that tuning was pretty much the most important aspect. :werd:

even the turbo kits for the civics cost cash or any other popular car that has a turbo kit avilable. but do search on other cars and there turbo kits wanting more power comes at a price $$$$$ don't want to spend it just do a regular BP swap. under a grand in parts granted u can do the swap urself.

well i mean yeah i understand that hp = money... but i dont think a bp swap is a good idea... i mean the cars that you get the engines from are already 15+ years old... so its really no point because the engines are outdated...

well tru tru but still to make that amount of power its alot of money... a thing which i dont have... considering i make minimum wage... but im willing to buy turbo or motor... which do you guys think is better... my SOHC runs great and i think the turbo would be a nice edition

now heres the only problem.....you can buy a: bp motor with lower miles then your sohc with tranny and wiring and ecu for 300 more or less....then turbo it for not much more, and you still paid less then the 2g's asked for racingmazdas™ turbo kit....even if you buy the turbo kit its only oil cooled...you also need to upgrand injectors and internals and other stuff.....therefore my summary is, go bp and turbo it. im sure the sohc will eventually hand the power, but it costs alot less to build and soup up a more reliable motor without the risk of blowing it as easily as the sohc.
thank you.

:!: :!: :!: :!: Thank god I have lots of knowledge. Performance seakers can be broken into 2 main sections similar to life.

5% who will succeed in making it big and reaching their goal.
and
95% who just will never make it but spend all their time trying.

Knowledge is control and control is power.

dont get me wrong, I am not saying you are wrong. But :!: you are lacking some knowledge for you goal.
