Okay I did the big three, I have big 4G power wires, And I have one Optima Redtop battery but the alternator in my 4-cylinder MX-3 is factory stock. How much watts of power can it safely handel with out killing anything? Just an estimate please :)..

I think the 4 cyl has about a 60 amp alternator and the 6 cyl has a 90 amp. Multipy the amps by 12 volts for the watts.

Amps*Volts = watts

Use 12 volts for the minimum wattage..Take a voltage reading for a more accurate number.

I'm told the millenia's have a 120amp alt.. but i'm told you need to new tensioning bracket..

When i drop in the BPT i'm mounting a HO 200amp alternator.. booyeh

Okay thanks alot guys that really helped. So I am planning on running 5000watts of power to this 18" sub im going to vibrate the ground with so I will need like a 420 amp alternator .

that's dumb.. but O well...

seeing as a 420amp alternator is going tobe like 9 inches diameter....

get 2 250amp HO alternators and mount them with LARGE pulley wheels onto the motor.. with a elongated belt...

BTW... even if you stick to 1 alt your going to take a big performance hit from the amount of energy needed to spin it...

With 2 your going to loose more because it'll take even more energy to spin 2 of them.. but it's more practical...

Lol yeah sorry about that. But i'll be running close to 4000watts like 3700ish. Yeah I seen that pulley thing done in Steve Meades Tahoe thats sick. Well okay thanks for the help though  really appreciate it.

Not many companies seem to make 300amp alts... but you have to remember that Amps also don't draw the wattage they put out... well...sorta...
It will depend on the amplifer's you get and i'm not really qualified to give you any advice on that..

But generally speaking a 200+ amp 12volt alternator should let you use 3700watts output-power of amplification...Just get high efficiency amps..and don't turn em on when your @ a stop light :D

Yeah they are many 18" subs. 18" subs are stupid loud but they only crappy thing about 18s are that they can't play high notes very well.
