how can i tell a real KLZE from a KLO3 with KLZE head

just wondering some different ways of knowing please and thanks

I guess the only way to tell the blocks apart are the pistons... look down the spark plug hole with a flashlight and try to see it the piston top is flat or dished

yep that will work and I also belive that KL31 is marked somwhere on the block.kinda like this

I`ve always believed the best combo is the KL03 with ZE heads and cams.

then you get the decent bottom end with better cams, and lower compression.

Handles more boost etc.

Assuming you're going for boost. Otherwise, I prefer the KL03 heads with the ZE bottom end. Higher compression, and I don't have to worry about the head dropping a valve while I'm bouncing off the fuel cut off.
