I just finished the 2.5 swap and can't beleive the differance. There is a mx-6 in town that is claiming to also have a KL_ZE so I went and looked at it. It doesn't look like myn at all. First of all it has asian lettering on it and my says mazda? He also says it's running 8:1 compression unlike my which is suposed to be at 10:1. I didn'y beleive any of his information till he pull out the dyno, 280hp stock? What KL_ZE does he have? Oh yea it also came with a standard tranny? How do I find out what version of the KL_ZE I have? Thanks...DriversClub

Someone is very confused and has misinformation. I don't know whether it's you or him. <P>Here's pics of KLZE's:<P><B>MX-6 KLZE</B><BR> <BR> Image <BR> Image <BR> Image <P><BR><B>MS-8 KLZE</B><BR> Image <BR> Image <P>------------------<BR><B><I>David Coleman</B></I><BR><A HREF="http://www.PinkMX-3.com" TARGET=_blank>1993 Mazda MX-3 GS Special Edition</A><BR><B><A HREF="http://www.highlandsun.com/hyc/sae920677/" TARGET=_blank><I>V6 engine info</I></A> | <A HREF="http://www.bradbury.cwc.net/probemx/index.htm" TARGET=_blank>KL FAQ</A> | <I><A HREF="http://www.brownsword.ca/Probe.html" TARGET=_blank>ECU reprogramming</A></I> | <A HREF="http://members.home.net/tekguy/" TARGET=_blank>K series Image cache</A> | <I><A HREF="http://archive.probetalk.com/cgi-bin/se ... tion=intro" TARGET=_blank>Probetalk Archive Search</A></I></B><BR><B>Support OPEC: Buy an SUV</B><p>[This message has been edited by David Coleman (edited September 12, 2001).]

The KLZE has 10:1 compression, and 200ps [197hp] stock. To get 280whp on a dyno, he'd have to have alot of boost, upwards of 8 pounds I'd venture. This would require running 100+ octane also, as preignition would kill a high comp/boosted motor on pump gas.<P>------------------<BR><B><I>David Coleman</B></I><BR><A HREF="http://www.PinkMX-3.com" TARGET=_blank>1993 Mazda MX-3 GS Special Edition</A><BR><B><A HREF="http://www.highlandsun.com/hyc/sae920677/" TARGET=_blank><I>V6 engine info</I></A> | <A HREF="http://www.bradbury.cwc.net/probemx/index.htm" TARGET=_blank>KL FAQ</A> | <I><A HREF="http://www.brownsword.ca/Probe.html" TARGET=_blank>ECU reprogramming</A></I> | <A HREF="http://members.home.net/tekguy/" TARGET=_blank>K series Image cache</A> | <I><A HREF="http://archive.probetalk.com/cgi-bin/se ... tion=intro" TARGET=_blank>Probetalk Archive Search</A></I></B><BR><B>Support OPEC: Buy an SUV</B>

Not if he lowered his ratio to 8:1 like he stated earlier. That would be fine for 8+ pounds of boost.

I have seen what he is calling a KL_ZE and it didn't look like what I bought. I'm almost sure I have the ms KL_ZE. Is the mx-6 KL-ZE better? Is there a sure way to find out if myn is a true KL-ZE? I'm sure this is a stupid question but why is it if the engine is a j-spec engine does it say mazda and not have some kind of japan sysmbols like this other guys car. He refuses to beleive the car is running a 10:1 compression. The only part that really bugs me is he is a race car mechanic so he should know what he is talking about. I just want to make sure I actually bought a KL_ZE and wasn't ripped off. Thanks for the time...DriversClub
