scraping noise in reverse gear

The front wheels make this weird scraping noise when going in reverse with the steering turned to the left or right. It doesnt make too much noise if i go straight reverse. It doesnt make any noise at all while going forward. This doesnt happen all the time - i notice it mostly when its really cold and the car has been parked for more than 4 hours. Is this an indication of some big problem or is it as simple as applying grease somewhere? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You.

i think i have somehwat sort of the same problem
when i am driving in reverse going straight or not sounds like a grinding sound from the tranny???

It dont think the sound comes from the tranny. I noticed that sometimes when it rains the noise stops. So i am thinking its a lubrication somewhere - but i havent located it yet.

Sounds like maybe your brakes... Could be your pads rubbing against your rotors when turning in reverse, but they're so 'chamfered' on the one side (front/leading side, closest to the bumper) from goin forward that it doesnt make the sound except when driving in reverse when the trailing side of the pads are 'biting' into the rotor...
All caused by uneven movement of the sliders on your calipers...!

if you havent figured out the problem, it could be a cracked rotor.
its rare to see, but it happened to me and my EGT back in the day. never noticed it going forward because the brake pads smoothed out the lip the crack caused...and since reverse isnt used as much, well the lip was fairly big on that side, big enought to feel on your pedal and to hear it, didnt fit out until i went to change my tires. lol
