cel light question

if my CEL is on when the key is clicked to the first position...is this bad. its been what, 6 months with this car and i still dont know it.

IF it goes on when the car is "ON" thats ok, most of the time it comes on when the key is turned on for a short period of time.

the CEL light stays lit up in the ON position....cant pull codes...tried. *gets nervous*

it does indeed turn off once i start my beast up. thankfully. however, does that put me in the clear?

then i think everything is fine - i think most of the instrument panel lights including CEL are designed to turn on (maybe briefly) before you start the car - so that you know the bulbs and circuits are in good working condition and they can be relied upon to indicate a failure ....
I had a 90 Nissan Stanza before and when i turn the key pretty much every bulb in the panel would light up for a moment. I wish i could swap that beasty 2.4L 138hp 148ftlbs engine into the mx-3...
