I am trying to install my new short shifter and i can not get the F***ing linkage unbolted from the shifter. I got the nut off, but i cant get the bolt to slide out of the shifter and linkage. I tried everything short of cutting it off. Any body with ideas how to get it out would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Nate

Just patients and a ton of WD-40. You can try and hit the bolt, but if you do make sure to put the nut back on so that you don't beat up the end of the bolt. Also the bolt will be pretty hard to get any kind of a swing at b/c of the tight place it sits in.
Good luck, I don't think there is a majic answer.

I had this same problem while replacing the bushing on my shift linkage, and solved it just how Pat said. LOTS OF WD-40! :D Also find a small hammer or use the handle end of a screwdriver and hit it if you have to.... took me lots of repeated hitting to get it out so just keep tryin till ya get it

Try a product called moove-it. It comes in a standard can like spray paint and is white w/ red writing. This is the KY jelly of mechanics. IT WORKED AWSOME ON MY STICK!

I had the same problem installing a short shifter on mine and in my last car 95 escort. I got a new bolt and nut from work and I used lots of WD-40 once I got the nut off I put some Vise GRips on the other side of the bolt and slowly pulled while turning it and it came. Took about 5 minutes. Just make surte on teh new one you put some Anti-Sieze crap. So it doesn't stick and give you a problem next time you take it out.
