.......I just purchased an external DVD writer (Burner) and was wondering how in the world you make a copy of a store bought DVD, the program that came with it does not allow such a thing ( Go Figure  )
does anyone know of a good program to download for me to make this happen ?

theres a program called DVD X Copy. Even shrinks DVD8 (dual layer) to fit on a DVD5 (single layer) disc. Its basically point and click software. You can get it at your loca Best buy if I'm not mistaken. I've seen the software at mine.

To actually burn a store bought dvd to a blank dvd, you need a combination of the first two posts.

DVD Decrypter to decrypt the encryption, and dvd shirnk to fit it on a single layered DVD

The last step is only necessary if your DVD burner does not support dual layer writing. If it does support dual layer writing, use a different program so as not to use quality with the compression of DVD Shrink.

I use ANYDVD and Clone DVD as well.
When all else fails with these 2, I use DVD decrypter along with Clone DVD.

I used DVD X Copy to send my husband copies of our movies while he was in Iraq. It really pissed us off when all our real ones got stolen... about 500$ worth... *grumbles* but that program was simple enough to use if you can find it...

We've been using DVDxCopy and a few rentals we've tried burning recently have failed, I'm assuming that it's the new copy-protection, so I'm gonna give AnyDVD/CloneDVD a shot and see if that works.

i use dvdxcopy (the first program to let u copy dvd's) but i have a SUPER OLD version (from 2003) before the gov't got involved in policing their business practices.

But I've also not burnt a dvd in over a year so IDK whats good. I've used cloneCD for cd's with great success in the past, so their sister software cloneDVD should probably be excellent.

I've used DVDdecrypter to create working backups of games I own, so that might work good as well (but is a bit of a pain in the a-- to use)
