I am a auto cross racer and i was thinking about super charging my mx-3. But what i want to know is has anyone ever super charged a mx-3. And is it really warth it for like a 5 or 6psi super charger or should i go to a turbo? Becuase i am looking at lest 220-240 with the moddes to a KL-ZE but i was also thinking of putting a super charger or turbo to get some more HP atlest maybe 40 or 60 hp just for some more kick. ;)

I did search i didn't find much so i was wondering if i should go turbo or not. I was willing to go super charged because not many people do it.

uhm turbos are better from the reseach ive done... With a Supercharger it takes power to make power. The belt puts a load on the system and which ill rob you of power...A Turbo charger runs off the exhaust gas which is being used anyway... so you dont lose..

true, however i would still go with a supercharger if you like doing Auto-X... Turbo Lag is killer in things like auto-x. No lag with a supercharger, and sure it takes power to make power, but it would be more clear to say: It takes 2-3hp to make 50-60hp (or more..)

Ya, Seriously for autoX, unless you knwo about Preloading the turbo, and like to go through some clutches, I would go with a supercharger. They have way better power-band for AutoX. But they are more expensive, only downside.

Couldn't you just put a quick shot of NOS to get rid off the turbo lag? Or is NOS not allowed in AutoX?

So yes i would like to supercharge but i would like to know if anyone has ever done it? Because i am not sure what i would need to look out for if i need to change my pistons. and if so what supercharger should i go with?

if you don't want turbo lag you can just go with a smaller turbo. it won't produce as much top end HP but it will definetly get you 40-60. i can't feel any turbo lag on my bpt (stock gtx turbo).

someone has supercharged an mx3 (can't remember who) but he switched it out for a turbo later anyways.

But its that fact of turbo lag. I am jsut looking for something that i do not have to change out my internals of my engine.

Changing out your internals has nothing to do with your decision to go with Turbo or Supercharger... either one will cause pressure, but both do it in different ways...

After a certain amount of boost, be it supercharged or turbocharged your stock motor wont take anymore.

There is a bolt on super charger for the mx-3 i cant remember the address off the top of my head. But i dont remember it being very cheap.

Edit: http://www.boosthead.com/ Look under the MX6 2.5 or Millenia 2.5L there Eaton Supercharger fits the MX-3. But its close to $4000 USD and when i asked on here about these a while back i remember somone saying that these guys wernt highly recomended.

They also have an electric turbo/supercharger... But I still think they're sketchy.

well i have mine supercharged, ( my probe sorry), but i am going to move everything to my mx3 soon (lighter car). i never autocrossed, just drag raced.

when your doing 40 mph in secound gear & stump on it, & the tire just start spinning, it's a little scary.

i don't think that would be very good for autocross racing

here my site take a look.(it's the probe)

Try a search for previous threads where myself and spinkx79 have comented on SC'ing an MX. We will both be installing an Eaton M62 SC this spring. It will be cheaper than a turbo I believe in the long run. Flip through a few of the threads in the link. You'll be able to draw your own conclusions. IMO, Autocrossing means on and off the throttle - a lot. That said, a SC will have the quicker reponse to acceleration demands over a turbo. Flat out drags, I'd say turbo may be the better option.
