Hi, just Bought a 1994 White MX-3 V6SE Ltd ed with leather and suede seats.(don't know if anyone would have these and know how to clean it? )

I’m from a town called Livingston in Scotland and Im 21 years old.

I have been looking round the forums and there is so much to read going to take awhile, though I can't see the post for why my Engine ticks as mentioned in the V6 FAQ. So could anyone explain, is this solvable? Also I get this strange sound when accelerating. It’s not very loud you need to have the window open to hear it, metal grinding maybe. Ohh and if the car is stationary and you were to rev it, no grinding.

hopfully get involved in these meets many happen in the UK? :D

the ticking is from the valve lifters (HLAs), more of an annoyance than anything else. the noise you hear is probably not grinding metal, if it was then you have about 1 more day to drive your car before it locks up. my guess would be noise from the tranny or possibly something to do with the exhaust (vibrating heat shields for example).

Yeah, I'd say it's probably the HLAs as well. You should also see when the last time the timing belt was changed and who did it. If its off and misfiring, it could be doing some harm.

At least, that was the problem with mine. Timing was off crushing the HLAs when it misfired causing that ticking noise.

Cheers for that, spoke to the guy who owned the car previous. said the timebelt was changed recently by Mazda themselves so i would have thought that should be ok, ive also hear that if i were to use Mobil 1 5w 30 oil the engine would run quieter?
