does anyone use it in the winter in canada and what do u think of it? any disadvantages/advantages?

I use it year around, buth then, here there is not much winter anyway. The only disadvantage is cost. Advantages, is that it is synthetic, so it flows better in the cold and protects better when hot. Much better than ATF, that stuff will eventually fcuk your syncros.

oh yah i think its a must. iv been ysing it for quite some time now. i blew my diff out at the corksport show and shine last year and drove it all the way home from Portland. 3 hr drive with no fluid in the trans at all. and a shattered diff. i think if i wouldent have been running the red line it probably would have siezed up. it sells down here for like 10 bucks a bottel, but iv gotten it for as low as 7 USD.

I just go Royal Purple. It is almost as good as redline and for like $4.50 (when it is on sale, or you know someone who works at Napa ) it is just as nice.

Yeah, Royal Purple is pretty good too. I found that it really helped my synchros a lot and got rid of a lot of the grinding on my old MX-3. I am using the same on my New MX-3 and it's definitly made shifting a lot smoother. Redline is still a great product as well and both Redline and Royal Purple preform well in cold weather. When it's -40 outside it's obviously a little stiffer when shifting gears before the transmission warms up but a lot better then any non-sythetic based transmission oil.
