Spring Mini Meet - Cactus Club (2612 - 39th Ave NE Location - Calgary, AB)

Image
Hopefully this picture makes you feel warm...

This will be the first official Spring MX-3 Mini-Meet of the year. Let's hope for a nice sunny day without April Showers (or April Snows storms, well known for Calgary). We can follow up the meet with supper at the Cactus Club and perhaps a small discussion on other events and fun stuff for the year.

See you there!

Seems like this will be a pretty good turn out. The J-Team might even show up as well as Joelle, Dallas, and Darcy. Haven't heard back from Kyle or Mark but we'll find out when the day comes.

Hopefully you can make it Kyle. I'll be sure to ask Kevin in B.C. about your T-shirt. I thought it was sent long ago but I'll check into it.

CRAP!! I don't know why I didn't see this thread sooner, but it might not have made a difference anyways. Where I work, we're asked to provide our availabilities almost a full month in advance. As much as I'd like to come down, meet you guys, and learn more about what I could do with my ride, I won't be able to get out of work. Especially since I had just booked this past Easter weekend off to go to Surrey for a pool tournament. So yeah, looks like I'll have to wait til the next meet before I get to meet you guys.

BTW, what's with all the crazy driving in Van?? I didn't take the MX since the 5 of us that went pooled in on a rental instead, but anyway, while we're driving around between Surrey where the tournament was and Richmond where we stayed, why is it that nobody seems to want to obey speed limits on the roads? Signs are posted at 50km/h so 60 isn't so bad, right? I see a tonne of people blitzing past me doing about 80 - 90 down the road and wondering to myself why bother posting up speed limits at all?? I was told by a friend that speed traps and photo radars aren't that common out there, but I guess there are a lot of red-light traps though. Is that why everybody seemed to be in a hurry all the time?? :P Fun routes to drive around on with all the twisties, BTW, but crazy to actually navigate through if you're trying to FIND a place you want to get to.

Yeah try being in a convoy of 20 MX-3s and managing not to loose anyone through Vancouver. That was always fun but this year should be easier with the big annual meet being in Kelowna. Yeah I don't think Vancouver is much different from Calgary with people not following the speed limit. Deerfoot Tr. (#2) should be a prime example. 100km/h limit but most people drive 120km/h to 140km/h. There are speeders everywhere you go.

That's too bad you can't make it out. Don't worry too much since there will be more events. The MX-Series meet will be next month too and hopefully there are some other events we can take in between now and then.

Deerfoot is one thing cuz it's MEANT to be a highway. Doing 80+ in a 50-posted zone is just nuts. But yeah, looking forward to making it out to one of the other meets soon. The week around the Kelowna meet should be interesting. I'm hoping to come down for a local meet the weekend before that around the Banff area so if I can book off some vacation time around those weeks, it should be a promising break for me to just chill out in the mountains for a week.
