i have the service manual and it shows how to remove the dash, but ihave a question. do i really need to remove the steering column and the entire centre console? i'm grabbing a new one from a yard around here and just wanna know in advance to minimize time. any help is appreciated. btw, this is coming out of a 93. thanks a lot.

no you dont have to remove the steering column. just remove the four bolts so you can drop the column to the floor to give you room to get the dash out. I did the dash swap last summer, time consuming.

92-93...D Shaped vent Dash right?

Its a pretty tedious task...
Ill see if I have the pics and can remember the bolts to remove.

There are 2 on both the left and right side
and you will have to remove some bolts right at the windshield...that one in the center is a pain in the azz.

But youll end up here.

I took this dash out a few weeks back but I do have some pics.
Ill see if I can dig them up off the camera and reconstruct my deconstuction.

I've also removed a few of these dashes... not too difficult

you basically just start by taking off all the console pieces that you can (mostly with a philips screwdriver) the hardest part for me was taking off the upper dash trim where the vin number is... I had to us an L shaped screwdriver since it is so close to the glass.

be careful taking the vents out because they are prone to cracking/shattering because the plastic becomes brittle.

Basically most of the bolts holding it in are 10mm and you can use a long extension to get the ones in the corners by the doors.

you'll also have to take out the speedo and all little switches and such.

lol luckily I lived next to walmart at the time... it's basically ummm actually it's shaped like an "N" I guess stretched out... LOL I can take a pic if someone really needs it haha

but you need some type of L shape to get that screw out... or some kind of flexible screw... cause I couldn't get a mini ratchet + 10mm in there...
