not a big fan of flushing my $$$ down the hopper

Post by MarkMoore »

thinking about doing both the zx2 suspension (both struts and springs) and getting the MS front and side skirts... am i gonna smash up both of these if i drive "normally" (meaning driving as if i didn't have a lowered car and lower body components)? i really don't wanna have to be extra careful when driving, so that's why i'm concerned that the estimated 1.8" drop that the zx2 suspension gives you will be too much... i'd hate to see a perfect bumper/side skirts be smashed to pieces because i forget to be careful... thoughts? experiences?

thanks in advance

From what everyone always talks about i thought the MS front was just a little lower than the stock GS lip.. So with the car lowered and with the MS bumper it shouldnt be too too different than just driving a lowered mx3 with a gs lip? I understand what your worried about thou its my concern as well

I heard that the ms front is even higher than the stock bumper, should be no problem

but deceptively, the MS looks lower because it contours straight down to the ground, whereas the stock bumper sort of curls back under the car at the bottom...

ahhhhhhh the beauty of optical illusions

its like 1" higher if that than the GS lip. It is lower than a stock RS though.

You still have to be careful pulling into parking spaces. If you pull forward too far you'll scrape the bumper on curb's easily. I've done it to my bumper a few times & the paint came off the lip of it :(

And the ZX2 springs don't sit right..the rear is noticeably higher than the front and IMO doesn't look right

But how far does the MS bumper stick out compared to stock? If it sticks out farther that changes the angle so sometimes on large bumps/dips you'll still scrape even though it might be higher than stock. I've had that problem on my bumper.

i'm pretty sure that the zx2 conversion is both 1.8" front and back

This is true.... I lowered my car with ZX2 lowering springs & my back end sits a little higher than the front. I wish I would have known that before I bought them. oh well

ahhhhhh i think you guys are just full of it... looking at your car in your cardomain page---it looks fine... and like i said before, i'm pretty sure that it's both a 1.8" drop front AND back.... i think it's just an optical illusion because of the lines on our cars.... just look at the Mazda 6, the newer Honda Accords, and the Lexus IS... the all appear to be lower in the front than in the back, but it's just an illusion because of the upward line that runs along the side of the cars (much like what the mx-3 has too!!)

BUT--for anyone who knows what they're talking about out there: how would this phenomena occur then (if what they're claiming is true)?

teal_93, i still think u're lyin'... jk, so ok, it's not an optical illusion... it sits less than an inch higher... so back to my question.... how could this be if it's supposed to be an equal drop...
