How do we adjust TPS on BP?

Post by Typhoonk »

I found on the site a v6 TPS adjustment. But I tried that and it didn't work. Now my car is running a little to rich.

Was wondering if there was info on doing it with the four bangers?

also would like to know which way to rotate it for a more fuel, and which way to lean it out?

thanks
Ken.

You will need an ohmmeter to test for continunity and feeler gauges.

What you have to do first is unplug the tps (assuming you have the 4 wire) Now the bottom 2 terminals on the tps are called IDL and E you wont need to mess with the top 2. Now, insert a 0.004 in. (0.1mm) between the throttle stop screw and the stop lever. Use the ohmmeter to verify that there IS continunity between terminals IDL and E (the bottom 2) Now, insert a 0.024 in. (0.6mm) feeler gauge between the throttle stop screw and the stop lever. Use the ohmmeter again to verify that there IS NOT!! continunity between terminals IDL and E. If its not as it should be, ajust the tps very very carefully until it meets these conditions.

If you are using the 3 wire sensor the procedure is the same except you use the following sizes for feeler gauges.. 0.004 in. (0.1mm) Check that there is continuity.. and 0.039 in. (1.0mm) and that there is not continuity. If you need some more info as in testing the tps just let me know but I hope this helps.

Great Info Franko! I'm going to try that on my car as well.

Also rich/lean issues can be the VAF as well. There are some tuning guides around here (look for the RX7 VAF replacement since the tuning part is essentially the same).
