few question about bpt swap.

Before anyone starts i have done a search but i still have questions. ok first i have a bpt engine and going to do a swap from what car and year i really don't know, but i know it's a 1.8L bpt gtx. I confirmed it with the marking on the engine and the information provided by the site. Thanks to all who put out the information. My question is why do i have to switch the distrubitor from the BPt to mx-3 RS. Also i Have 1993 mx-3 RS and the question is the ecu i'm still a little confuse about running a bpt ecu or running a piggy back system until i can afford a stand alone system on it. Does the ecu plugs right in or do i need a different wiring harness.
