Another new Calgary member!

Me, I think... I put through the paypal payment just now, so I hope it's underway. I've been around here for a few months posting away, but had to wait a bit with school commitments for the payment.

About me? I worked out of RCTS here in Calgary for over a year (http://www.monsterhorsepower.com), on many different cars. I've also worked in Quebec with http://www.turbinetech.ca and I currently retail a few automotovie performance items mainly for friends and myself. I'm not an official retailer for Turbine Tech goodies as there isn't enough mark up to make it worthwhile, but if anybody wants any custom turbo goodies... he definetely makes the best handmade stuff I've come accross. If you guys need something else performance related, I should be able to help in that area as well.

I currently am attending school full time, and do part-time tuning consulting amongst other jobs. The tuning consulting generally involves hooking up true 5 wire widebandand playing on modified (sometimes stockish) cars. Good way to see state of tune. I use it as a cheaper alternative for those who want to know their car is running safely, without spending big bucks on a wideband themselves or dyno runs.

My Mx3 is 93 SOHC, and I'm not terribly fond of it's power output at the moment. Just about as soon as I got the MX3, I picked up a donor Escort GT (few months ago). The BP has been ported... just waiting on a valve job. Then I'll be stealing the brakes from the Escort and from there it'll be time for some more fun with turbo. I have an equal length manifold, t3/t4b turbo (biiig), big FMIC etc. coming from TurineTech in Quebec. I'll probably just run the motor in a while without turbo, then have it on by summer at the latest.

I look forward to coming to meetings when I can, and meeting the people on here.

Who should I send any pictures to?

Well Kyle, your membership has been approved and you are now a member of MX-West. Just send me your car pictures and head shot and your profile can be completed. I think we'll have another Mini-meet on Nov 14th so you'll have a chance to meet a few of the Calgary members.

So Nov. 14 it is? Later the afternoon the better, as the odds are greater that I'll be in town.

Oh hey, James or Joell, I've picked up the official shop manual for my car, but there are parts for the V6 as well.
Being my 3" binder will not close properly, would either of you want the V6-only sections?

Darcy,
I'm sure I could take that burden off your hands for you. I'm sure there could be a lot of useful information.

Joelle,
I did bring the cheque, but I was having so much fun, I forgot to take it out for signing. I'll probably see you before the 14th anyways.

Thanks for the welcome. If I don't have any exams in or around the 14th, I'll be at the meet.

I see the pics and everything are already uploaded... excellent!

While you guys are bringing up shop manuals, anybody have torque specs associated with rebuilding a BP (rod bolts, crank pulley, cam caps, timing belt, that kind of thing)?

None of us would have that. You'd have to attempt finding a manual for a GTR or GTX. MX-3 torques wouldn't work for that. The Meet is on a Sunday so I don't think it will mess with anyone's schedules.

The UofC isn't exactly known for its sane exam dates.

well, I'm not in real school... ;) Actually SAIT is still real school, but I'm just taking the 2 year MET at SAIT. They still keep you busy with life, projects, and these exams though.

I'll have to browse ebay for some manuals. I noticed someone else mention they waited 7 months for theirs from the dealer.

Yeah I did sait CNT as well. I wish the technology was a little more advanced over here. I took Nano Technology Engineering and Hydrogen Fuel Technology in Switzerland and it's useless here. I'm done with school for now. Too much $$$.
