I want to do this very badly but the costs of the verticle door kits are terrible, all are at least $1000 USD. for what you get they give you it seems like the cost is wayyy to high-http://www.doorsup.com/img/kit005.jpg does anyone know of any cheaper companies that make them? thanks.

Uh-- they are all going to be about the same... and remember that most of those prices are for Honda Kits-- which are plentiful. An MX-3 kit would require custom work and therefore be more expensive.

I remember a calgary MX-Wester mentioned that a company in NJ was willing to do it for $2000 incl labour. They wanted to try it on an MX-3 so it was cost. Downside was the car had to spend 2 weeks in NJ.

accually they had a kit on their site for the mx-3 thats a direct bolt on that was $1000, which would be cheaper than custom work but still seems like alot for just some hinges and wire extensions.

from what i hear most kits are the same its the pump thingy is what is important. if u wanna manually open the doors and lift them when they are heavy as hell or get them hydraulically done so a nice lil tug will lower them down. and up.
a girl has a celica with lambo doors on them ill try to get a pic of her set up.

when you say pump thingy, what do you mean? the struts?(like what is used to open the hatch kinda thing?)

i'm guessing that the "pump thingy" is the small shock that comes w/the kit. yes, autoloc is crap-look at the sample on the site-would you trust that piece of metal to hold up your door? over your head? i wouldn't. doorsup from cali has good kits- i've seen the quality-looks pretty durable. I spoke w/them-the mx-3 kit will take about three months to make-they have to order a factory hinge as a model to work with, then they make the kit, and shipping will be about 40-50us bux and takes about two to three weeks in the us. Just email'em, they're pretty cool people. the nj spot-is it decah you're talking about?
