Hey all,
From the searches I've ran DropZone colovers don't get the best reviews. And I mean for $150CAD from jdmracing.com I guess you get what you pay for? Has anyone had any god luck with these coilovers? I mean I don't wanna sound cheap, but if they work then why spend cash taht could be put towards an engine!
Then again, I guess it would be best to save up for say...GC coilovers instead?

Comments on both would be nice.

Regards,

Tyson

Here's the deal with DZ coilovers, from what I understand: i believe they have a much too high spring rate for the kinds of struts you could get to go with them, meaning you would wear your struts out much faster than you'd probably like (very much too high a rate for stock struts). as far as ride quality, I doubt you'd like the feel of them unless you like a REALLY stiff ride, and enjoy bouncing. the ground control coilovers are great for many reasons, one of which being you can get any spring rate you want. the DZ coilovers are for people who don't give a poo about performance and just want a slammed car. the performance that the DZ coilovers give you is just poo. if that is all you are going for, then i'd say getting the DZ coilovers won't hurt you... however spending an extra $250 for better coilovers is worth it, to me at least. it isn't that much money. remember how much a high end full coilover kit costs (for cars with the aftermarket support). On whatever my next car is, i know i will be dropping $1500-$3000 on a good coilover setup.

The bottom line is when i was looking for coilovers and deciding what to buy, i came across a post where someone had mentioned this: You see cars using ground control coilovers in magazines all the time, and you can find many a great track car using ground control. Do you see the same things about DZ? Nope.

P.S. I've had ground control coilovers on my car for about a year now, and I have loved every day of it. I used to have H&R springs, but ground control blows them out of the water.

yea they're race springs (not really meant for the streets).. maybe if you got zx2 struts with them, but other than that they're just meant for auto-x or racing. they'll go about 2.5" down (which looks sick) and on ebay u can get em for $90usd or less. overall: not bad, just stiff :D

zx2's are insanely weak (soft), and dz's are insanely strong (stiff).. so they would probably match quite nicely. the cool thing that most people like about zx2's is that the piston will go ALL the way down, so there's practically no way of bottoming out. saying that there are no struts that can handle dropzones is false.. because these will. but i duno, they're cheap, so buy em and experiment like the rest of us did hahaha (be ready for go kart suspension!)

i've got dz coilovers and tokico blues. the ride is pretty good in my opinion, stiff but all the lowered vehicles ive had a ride in are about the same. they are a cheap set, that is why i got them, i had to redo all (new)struts, springs, brakes, calipers, pads, etc... other wise i would have bought a better set, i was not expecting to keep them for a long time, just needed new springs. maybe next year the car will get bagged. for the 130 buck it cost me it was well worth it.
