Is it possable to convert a standard floating bearing turbo into a BB turbo? I know this isn't somethig that can be accomplished at home, but what if I have a machine shop do it?

Probably not gonna happen in the floating bearing center section. My suggestion is just by a ball bearing center section, Corksport stocks the Garrett T3 Ballistic Dual Ball Bearing center sections. www.corksport.com 1-503-252-5700
Just make sure you have it ballenced with what ever compressor wheel and turbine your gonna use. If it isn't balanced then you suffer a catasrophic failure!!!! ;)

sell the turbo you have and buy a ball bearing turbo. I imagine it would be cheaper and I KNOE it would be more reliable than converting. The stock 300ZX came with a ball bearing T3. If you buy one, then rebuild it, you should have a damn fine turbo

All machine work would be done by myself or a close friend, so the job would be free :D I have just never take apart a turbo to figure out if it could be done or not. I was also gonna use a junkyard turbo anyway just for the sake of my bank account.
What gen 300zx was the BB turbo in? the single turbo z31 or the twin z32? and do you have any more info on it? I'm going to the yard soon and I can grab one for $50 if I find it before the rest of the yard rats.
One last thing, what would that Corksport center section cost and would I have to send the turbo to them to get the work done?
