Ok this may be a stupid question...I am painting my whole interior..everything...now i am wondering the black piece that is around the shifter(automatic) does that piece not come off?? I mean i had the whole car apart and from what i c it doesnt look like it does...has anyone painted this piece? and if so how did u do it? any help would be appreciated I want to get my interior done b4 winter hits

well that piece i want to paint aroudn the shifter i want to paint it blue the rest of the interior is all silver and blue with black accents......just trying to take everything aprt in these cars is a ***** :mad:

Go to the how to guide, and click on the removing interior pieces. Do you mean the trim around the shift boot. If so, then you have to remove that entire piece and remove the bolts from the bottom to get that trim piece free. Good luck.

the shifter piece is connected to the piece under it. The under piece has to be removed in order to remove the trim around shifter. In 94+ models its different though, since the part comes off by removing a couple of screws. One suggestion I have for everyone, is to sand it down so the surface is all smooth and nice and then prime and paint it. Otherwise your paint will start to peel off after awhile and this method will also give you a nice and clean look. (method is courtesy of curt-klze)

thanks alot i am going to try and take it out next week...car always seems to be in peces haha Thanks guys :2thumbsup:
