Nearly all the carbon fiber hoods on the market require that the buyer take them to a body shop to have them clearcoated.

Just beacause the surface of other carbon hoods is shiney out of the box does not mean it has been clearcoated. The smooth shiny surface is part of the manufacturing process. The hoods are laid up in a non pourous mold and when they are popped out of that mold they are smooth as glass.

If you don't put a clearcoat on the hood it will start to first fade and turn brownish and then over time the resin surface breaks down and turns white then begins cracking.

We have taken the time to have this done for the customer before it even leaves our factory. After our hoods are clearcoated with PPG automotive clearcoat they are buffed to a mirror finish.

These hoods are slightly more expensive than other hoods on the market but when you take into account that the other hoods must go to the body shop to be scuffed down, clearcoated, wetsanded, and buffed that these hoods are actually cheaper in the end. We save you the hassle of taking these products to a body shop that may not even be familiar with how to finish carbon fiber hoods.

100 extra bucks to wetsand and clear coat/wetsand/polish/buff? you can do that stuff yourself at home for under 30-40 bucks. now if the hood was a perfect guaranteed fit and not the same exact hoods from g3 autosport, then more power to you.

Yes people can do it yourself, but the risk of not knowing what your doing, u could ruin your hood. I worked at a bodyshop for a while and Ive see what the DIY jobbers look like. If you dont know how, have it done.

Jarid, are the ones you made group buy clearcoated? Im happy with mine that ive got through Jarid's group buy but i had to have hood pins on to make it seat right, "stock" latch was crappy and too high and i had 2 inch gap between hood and left fender

More importantly...that's one SICK cougar. I always had a feeling they could be dressed up quite nicely. That's hot.
