sunroofs/moonroofs?

ok i'm a little confused i've tried to look around on the site and off a bit but haven't found an answer. what type of sunroofs/moonroofs did the mx-3's come with? i've seen glass ones but i've seen people with mx3's ask what cars they can get glass sunroofs off of to use in the car. did they come with the option of glass or metal ones or was it just one or the other? cause the mx3 i'm picking up friday doesn't have one and i want to have a body shop add a stock one but i'm not sure what my options are. thanks for the help

just a word of advise, haveing a sunroof put in a car that didnt come with one usually has leaking problems.....

They came with metal sunroofs. Afaik, glass ones are aftermarket. I know one of the members here used one from Here

that is really weird cause i have yet to see an mx-3 with a metal roof they have all been glass and they look very stock... maybe it was just a really good company or somethin i guess

actually the sunroof is the metal one and slides all the way back. the moon roof is the glass one and only pops off. now you can pop the glass one off very easily and it turns it into kinda a sunroof but you cant just hit a button to close it you have to stop your car and put it back on manually again its not hard just a pain in the *** to not be able to hit a button and close it.

I think it's the other way around.

Sunroof is the generic term used to describe an operable panel (usually solid) in a vehicle roof which can let in light and/or air when opened.

Moonroof is a term created by Ford in the 70's, and is now used generically to describe a glass panel built-in electric sunroof which is retractable but has also applied to the manually removed glass panels.

when i was at a shop getting my sunroof put in the guy there explained to me that sunroof is manual or only pops up and moon roof is the one that using a motor pops up and slides back in, he never made a distinction between metal or glass... somethin tells me that there used to be a real difference between the two and now its just all goofed up. this too funny and confusing.

a moonroof is made from metal and sunroof from glass either manual or power sunroof.
