I don't know much about Mazda MX-3's, but I'm buying one and I noticed there is a switch between the seats on the console. And a light that lights up red when the switch is on, i dont think it works though, Anyone know what its for?

No, it's a 92, and the seats aren't leather. There's just one silver switch on the console, i was thinking maybe the person that had the car before me had fog lights hooked up or something, i don't know.

Wow, glad you cleared that up for us... I thought mazda just decided to put switches there for no reason, on his car only in '92. Sorry to be an ***, but I think we knew they weren't factory considering he told us:

The problem is, how are we supposed to know what the previous owner put there? Use our magic switch sensing abilities? Sorry dude, but I'm pretty sure you will have to experiment around the find out what it does.

Unless you have a 93 SE (which you don't) then you shouldn't have a switch there. The plug for your seat is a seat belt sensor...nothing more. However, I believe it does have the capability for supplying heated seats because it is a 6 prong outlet, and the seat on fils 2 or 3.

its ur seatbelt sensor. its connected to ur dash, if u dont have ur seatbelt clipped in, the light on ur dash stays on.

There should be a white plug coming up from the floor. Not that you need this plug...I Umplugged mine so it wouldnt light up anymore.... although I do where my seatbelt 100% of the time ($105 ticket)

There is another plug facing the shifter. that is for the automatic transmission shift assembly thingy. It is unplugged if you have a 5spd model.
Does anyone have a pic of how the MX3 heated seat switch looks? I never knew the SE's came wth that. I pulled some SE seats out of a 93 at my junkyard and it didn't have any switches in the center like that (or any spots for a switch).
I only know that the 94+ style console has two spots for switches right under the e-brake lever.
