Interior Console Lights

Post by ZServo »

I'm not sure if there is a better name for them, but at night how the console and the gauge displays light up green when you turn your lights on at night, well i'd like to change them to red. i haven't taken it apart yet to look, but i'm sure that the bulbs back there are clear and there is a green-tinted plastic piece attached behind the dash/console that gives it the green color, my question is, is there anyway to change the color to red, either by removing the plastic piece and inserting red bulbs or changing/replacing that plastic piece to a redish color or something like that? anything at all? as for the radio station/cd player and clock displays, i know i'm not going to be able to change that, but as for the rest of the controls, the red color would match my interior red neons much better instead of having a Christmas-color scheme. thanks for any input in advance.

the only place to change the colour to red would be the instrument cluster. The bulbs are clear with green covers on them. To be safe it would be best to change the covers to red.
As for the rest - no luck there. the climate control you can change the bulb (good luck finding one) but it will not help because the icons are green on the inside. http://www.street-beat.com/colbulcov.html

yea the bulbs back there have green covers..taking them off wont help much. there IS a green tint on the back of the gauge covers...i recommend just ordering gauges with a red font from speedhut.com. as far as console lighting... http://www.probetalk.com/forums/showthr ... 963705. i changed my console lights to a really bright white and its very nice...very dangerous to try too...i wouldnt recommend it.

Thanks, you guys. well, I appreciate your input, but now it seems this project is a bit too complicated for achieving rather trivial results anyways. i think i'll just leave it the way it is, cuz my car is already teal, so maybe i'll just get rid of the red neons and get turquoise or green instead :)
