wrong engine?

Post by mxmaz »

I'm kind of worried, today i got to take a real good look at my kfze engine i ordered from Osaka. It arrived about a month ago. The serial number is KF 244941. But the cams are stamped k8 101 and k8 1A1. And there is stamps all over the engine that say either k8,kl,or kf. The distributor says kf01 on it among other numbers and the pcv valve also says kfo1 on it. Can anybody tell me for sure what engine i have?

check on the front block by bending over the fron of the motor and looking for the code that is written on the block... if it says kf something, then it is in fact a kf... i dont know if the cams are the k8 101 or not tho

The part numbers for the K series use K8, KF, KJ and KL letters, but the parts can be used on two or more of the engines. e.g. the KF and KL engines use the same distributor, KF34-18-200A, whereas the K8 and KJ engines use K834-18-200A.

But, as said above, the blocks are unique to the engines, so the letters KF on the block definitely identify a KF (and the same goes for K8, KJ and KL).

You have a KF. Some KF's had K8 heads for some reason. But that's insignificant anyways since I don't think there's any appreciable difference in flow between the two. The bore and stroke is more important in this instance, and you've got a 2.0 liter, not a 2.5 liter. Is that at least what you ordered?

When I got my KF-ZE it said K8 101 and K8 1A1 on the heads but on the block it said KF. The cams on mine were KF 101 though.

also the engine has external coil distributer and straight neck intake manifold. The lettering K8 101 that i can see by looking between the runners on the IM, would that be the heads or the cams i was looking at. If it was the heads, where would i look for the cams lettering to?
