Looking for 190-225 hp What do you suggest?

Post by seneca »

Hey guys,

Ok this may seem like a simple question right? Go for a KLZE! And I do have one availiable for me. But I'd like to hear everyones opinions first. In order to acheieve approx 190-225hp, that I would be satisfied with!

I'm debating all of the options....BPT, KLZE, DE, K8T, JET PROPULSION SYSTEM! :D

For cost, mpg, overall power, and maintainence what would each of you suggest? I would not mind having around 225 hp (Like babyblue's KLZE) but know there's other ways to get there.
There are sooo many combinations out there...and I know that many of you have tried and tested most of these options. So, What would you suggest? I know that I could even turbo the V6 K8, give it some new headers, cam, pullys, all the toys. Or supercharge a DE.

There's endless oppertunities, I want to hear your suggestions, so I do things right the first time!

Thx,

Tyson

Start with a ZE then you can only go up from there. Later down the road you can supercharge, turbo whatever and have even more power.

What kind of sound does the KLZE give off? I love the sound of the 1.8 V6, am I going to lose that nice sound when i do a swap and end up sounding like just another car?

I love the sound of my KLZE, no matter what RPM I hit the gas at I get a nice whistle sound from the engine bay. Sounds turboed.

Hi!

May be you heard so much about the KLZE and the BPT because they give the best money/performance rate.

IF you have an mx-3 rs it's simpler to go whit the bpt ant if you get the GS, it's simpler to go whit the KLZE or an other V6 engine.

You setup yill depend of what you wanna do whit your car, how much money do you want to out on and your degree of interest about tuning.

Well, in my opinion!

Haha,

Awsome....well I guess this was more of a poll. I know what I can do but am asking individual opinions. I am very unsure wheather or not I will be going turbo. I would be happy with a pumped up K8, but dropping the cash on a KLZE wouldn't be so bad. A KLDE on the other hand seems to be more dependable. Yet lacks power off the take.

See, I'm just looking for what you would do if you could, or have done, or would do over again. I believe in learning/acting on experience.

So plz....continue. But remember, if I had wanted stats on hte engines I'd just research the forums.

What kind of engine setup would you use, and why?

I suppose you might be able to get 190+ HP with a KF-ZE with that new intake manifold that some guy on ProbrTalk is designing. But it still wouldn't have as much torque as a KL-ZE.

if your trying to get 200+ WHP with a ze good luck. you can do it useing a bunch of bolts ons and some nitours. if your looking to have that kind of power all the time you need a good kl03/klde with a turbo or s/c. no body has yet to hit 200 whp all motor with any kl series motor. ;)

Hmmm...wait a second, I know I dont own an GS, however, last time a checked both the KL-03 (if there is such a thing) and KL-DE were KL series motors (note the kl in bold in both names). Just thought I'd point that out.

KLDE and KL03 are the same 2.5 american V-6 engine. KLZE is 195hp stock, not 170.

I cant believe people still dont have this locked into their brains....

KL-ZE (Japanese KL engine)-195bhp
KL-DE aka KL-03 (US)- 160-170bhp.

a few members on probetalk have hit 200whp with the kl-ze with extensive engine work on top of bolt-ons. But 220whp wont be done with either engine short of F/I

Again...I'm not looking for the same regurgitated KLZE DE debate. I'm iquiring with regards to what you would find as the optimal setup if you you were able to have it done.

If I wanted a KLZE debate I would be able to reference one of the million threads!

If you had the cash...what would to do to reach this goal?

Sorry, as I said, I'm not totally clear on these engines...I just wanted to point out the KL-DE was a KL series engines.
I'd go with bpt, but I have an RS, so I don't count.

Sorry for being an idiot; I'll shut up now. :dunno:
