coolant leak

I recently noticed steam coming out from between my hood and the passenger side fender. It looks like the steam is coming from the pipe that connects the upper radiator hose to the top of the engine block. I already tried to tighten the cap, and i'm hoping its not the water pump. I duno. Maybe its just the gasket or worn out cap?

Has anyone ever had this problem?

what's up Ray,
try jacking up the car and see where it's coming from.
If it's where the hoses are, near the radiator, just change the hoses.

If it's coming from the timing belt covers side, where the oil dipstick and the pulleys are, than I would say it's the water pump

I have this problem right now. The filler neck that bolts to the top of that pipe you mentioned (two bolts, where the filler cap is) is not metal, and will crack with age, heat, and stress. I am looknig for another one, if anyone has one...

if its the water pump, you'll find the cooland rezivoor will be low.. if it is the water pump, then change your timingbelt too and the bearings, makes the car runn smoother

I had to replace my filler neck not long ago. The part is not that expensive from mazda, like $30 or so. There is also an o-ring that it sits on I recomend you get that as well.
