I could use some help (identification and installation)

Hey guys. Recently I inherited a box full of car audio equipment. Now, I've installed CD decks and speakers with no trouble, but that's as far as my experience with audio equipment extends. I have never worked with amplifiers, subwoofers, any of that. So I need a bit of help here.

First of all, I'm going to need to identify what all of this stuff is, because most of it is "out of box" with no manuals or such. All of the equipment is from a company called ADS, which I have never heard of.

I'm hoping you guys can help me out with what each of these components are, and what it does:

I know that this is the amplifier (right?). It is an ADS PH12. According to the brochure I found in the box, it is a 6-channel system.

Next is something called an AX2 electronic crossover. I don't know what this is.

This one was in a box, which was labeled "AX3 programmable active filter module, 2-way/3-way electronic crossover"

And then there was this sound level meter in there too.

So what do I have here? The beginnings of a car audio system? If so, would anyone be willing to walk me through an installation, if I decided to go that route? Would it be better to just bring it all to a specialist and have them do it?

Any help here would be appreciated.

I DONT know the brandname at all But electronic crossovers is normally used in good systems..

The way the electronic crossover works is it takes the full audio signal from your Headunit 15-22k(20-20khz)and parts it out into highs mids and lows @3way Like for excample Low 15-500Hz Mid 500-7000Hz High 7000-22000Hz or something like that,maybe you can even decide the crossoverfrequencies yourself

The Sound Meter is a decibel microphone or SPL meter. It tops off at 130dB, but is GREAT for tuning boxes. They can be purchased at Radio Shack.

The equipment you have, A/D/S, is good schtuff, but is fairly dated. check out www.adst.com
