acc usually means accesory power, or remote, red is power and black is ground, the speakr wires are color coated to each individual speaker( like green and green with a white strip for the front left speaker .... etc) if you are installing a deck it is easier to buy a wire harness that is compatable with the car and deck then there will be no cutting and stripping of wires necessary, it just clips in to the deck and the factory clip.

Best page for DIY audio. You will find it real easy to get around the page and **** too. You will need acrobat reader but they offer it on the page.

most and i am saying MOST, not all, but they are usually just match up the exact colours, not all wires are usually used, also your manual for your deck should tell you which wire is which

here is what a typical newer model deck wiring color:

POWER etc. :
=================================================
1. black (grnd or ground) => ground
2. yellow (ign. or ignition or whatever matches there)=> car battery or constant 12v(has power even ignition is off...will be able to load or eject cd even no key on ignition but can't play it or can't turn on radio)

3. red (acc. or accessories)=> acc or accesory terminal(power only when key is in accesory or ignition is on)

4. blue with white stripe or might be different in other deck (rem or remote ant. or remote lead)=> remote lead/remote antenna(for some deck they have separate remote antenna and remote lead)....this wire will be connected to amplifier if you have one and or automatic antenna.

5. orange with white stripe(illum or ill or illumination or whatever that matches there) => will be connected to car light control switch(cd deck will be dimmer if headlight is on and bright when headlight is off).
===================================================

SPEAKER wires:
===================================================
6. grey(+) and grey with stripe(-) => front right speaker

7. white(+) and white with stripe(-) => front left speaker

8. purple(+) and purple with stripe(-) => rear right speaker

9. green(+) and green with stripe(-) => rear left speaker
===================================================

I hope this helps...let me know if you need any mroe help on installing stuffs to your car

If I'm replaceing my stock stereo and I don't want to cut the wirring harness, what aftermarket stereo's are recomended for the mx-3. I have 95 GS, and I'm looking for another stock mx-3 stereo (CD) or a cheap aftermarket. Thanks...

anything you want really, just buy another harness that will plug into your stock one so u do not need to touch any of the stock wiring... except for the ground wire, because it is seperate from the harness in an mx-3.

Thanks for the reply... One other question, is it a good idea to disconnect the battery when plugging in (installing) the deck?
