Well it looks like ill be moving down to austin texas in june from upstate ny. I want to get a new car. The ones im looking at are the 00+ celica GT or GTS. The GTS is 180hp but the compression is a little high, however pistons can change that and turbo kits are availible. IM also looking at a miata, year doesnt really matter. I just want a newer car with some possible OEM warranty left on it. My current mx has rust probs on the rear fenders, but ive done so much work myself on it id hate to sell it :( ...no idea what to do. Ill have enough money to purchase a car for around 11k. what should I do?
IW as even thinking of driving the mx to austin, buying one in better conditions with lower miels and swap the parts ive put in and have two.
any ideas would be great

I would hold out and buy a used car in Austin, that way the car won't have seen any snow and will have no corrosion. I think the following cars are really cool and would be in your price range:
Nissan 240sx
Nissan 200sx SE-R
Honda Prelude
Integera GSR
I doubt you will be able to find any of these cars for $11,000 with a warrenty still in effect, in order to do that you would probably have to get a Civic or Corolla or something.

Hey man a 00+ celica is like my dream car! go for it! My bud just got a blue 2001 celica and he says the handlingand ride quality is amazing. He has had a 92, and 98 civic, toyota poseo, and a 95 celica. He says noting touches his new one. Besides toyota are the best cars you can get" :)

yeah it really just depends on if I want the extra bill or not. Ill own my mx3 and just pay insurance, but gettign a celica adds almost 400$ to my monthly expenses, and for 20 year old waiter that payes for school alone in cash, and rent for an apartment, im wondering if i can do it or not now hehe

Good luck finding a turbo kit thats not going to break your piggy bank for a long time...(since you say you are a waitor paying for school and an apartment). Im best friends with one of the guys on the celica board and we talk about them all of the time. Turbo kits for the celica GTS are very very rare.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhh they arent rare, just expensive! My bud and I were talking about them one night so i looked up some company's and there were a few that made kits. And dont under estimate how much a waiter can make!! Im a cook so I get to see all the tips they take home and I just get a ****ty cheque for all my hard work. But man I would say one or the other, like i could see if you were out of school and rollin in the dow, but man Id just wait if you wanna keep the mx.

I wouldnt ever buy a kit for a car. The money that you pay that covers the R&D and Building the kit jsut doesnt do it for me. I rather get a haltech for 1k then build a custom setup and be able to tune it far better than a 6-10k turbo kit wiht limited tuneing abilities
I think what im gonna do is keep the mx3, try to get it ready for the drvie from upstate ny to austin. So im gonna need a tune up and a new clutch. Then when i get down htere look for another car instead of worry about it right now.
Celica is still top on my list, and like it was stated above, dont underestimate what waiters can make. Up until my mom went onto a salary job I was making more than her..

sell the mx in austin, or kill all the rust, get in everywhere and look for it, oh, and get a simple digital systems engine management system. ;)
