True enough. :crying:

I dont think they use the term "owns" I think they use "controlling interest"...I have read anywhere from 33% to 51%. It seems as though Ford is definetely calling the shots.

I bought my car out of a used Chrysler lot 8 years ago. They had a huge sale of used Protege's and mx-3's. Because Ford had just become the 'largest shareholder' of Mazda, for some reason Chrysler's dealerships were given a time limit to sell all of their used Mazda cars, or they would have to sell them back to Mazda Japan and incur a 25% restocking charge on each car.
Hence I got a more or less brand new car with 2000 kms on it for pretty cheap (at the time). :)

I think its more close to 33-34%. Which is the controlling shareholder.

Thats sad, I dont suppose Ford has anything to do with the building of the cars? If so screw mazda, because we all know what "built ford tough" means. And the mazda6 has aford engine in it? Maybe Ill go buy a Toyota that has a quality Toyota engine in it.

Mazda6's V6 is powrd by a ford bottom end with Mazda head.

The tribute is powrd by all ford motors with the zetec in the 4 banger and the duratec in the v6.

Also the mazda b series pick up trucks are powrd by ford motors.

I would hate to think where mazda would be without ford's $$$$$$$$$$$.

Ford/volvo is using the same chassis from the mazda6,mazda3 in like 7 different cars. Also the new 4cyls from mazda will power other ford cars as well.

Well Mazda is on its way down, ford can afford to make crappy cars that dont last because they are a family name, but mazda on the other hand.

Anyone that actually has knowledge of cars isn't going to want an import with a demestic engine, it destroys the point of even getting an import.

Its just my opinion but it doesnt take a genius to see how ford and other demestics hold up compared to imports.

what's wrong with all you people complaining about ford...sure they're domestic....but they are a huge worldwide conglamorate!!!

how do you think Mazda has been able to do so much r&d in the last couple of years....influx of all that ford money you hate.

mazda's models have been stale until the reintroduction of the renesis engine, the mazda6 (waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than any 626) and promotion again of mazdaspeed.

I guarentee you ford helped make this happen! this deal didn't happen yesterday.

p.s i would still rather own an import any day!
