I just got back from an import shop and they said it would be at least $130 for a cold air intake. I thought that was a bit much considering i just paid $150 for a new muffler. <P>Does ANY ONE know how to make their own cold air intake for the 1994 RS 4 cyl. DOHC?<P>Please help! I don't want to spend more money than i have too!!!

buy a flange from ebay to mount piping to your "silver box". then just get some piping (home depot and the like)and fit to where wyo0u want it, then just slap a filter on the end of it. ~voila~ should be around $75 max

What kind of piping? 3" PVC plumbing? And do i need to seal the pipes together or something. Also, what about mounting? How do i keep it up? [img]shrug.gif"%20border="0[/img]

The '94 and later RSs don't need an adapter plate. 3" PVC pipe will fit snugly over the rubber gasket that originally went into the large hole on the top of the stock air box. I made an intake out of PVC pipe and it worked well but I was afraid it would suck up water and I had a difficult time creating an effective support bracket for the thing so I shortened it. I am trying to get my buddy's digital camera so I can post some pics of my new(shortened) intake.

well i got a topspeed air filter (large cone) and just took off the old airbox and put the new filter along with a piece that reduces the diameter to the size of the MAF and then took a piece of rubber tubing and attached it to the sensor. I then disconnected my battery to let the computer reset itself to the new airflow. <P>After my first test drive I am a believer in doing this EASY mod!!!! Crap it sounds awesome and matched with a magnaflow muffler and 2 1/4" piping. My car is noticably better than stock. <P>Thanks for the help. Cheers.

by the way i have read that PVC pipe can be really harmful when it heats up. the aem intake would that work on a sohc 92?

i thinking of modding a 92-97 corolla intake.<BR>i have the prm but thing that some mendral bent tube from the throttle bodie- maf then attach the prm would make metter air flow also look good...<BR>jason
