Is the mass air sensor, different in models later than the 92? are they different in the rs and gs? I have seen a couple that it looks like the air sensor is a round black piece that has the plug in. My 92 rs has a metal one that is round on the throttle body end and square on the air filter box end. Thanx for the help.

The kind that we have (the square metal one) is the door type MAF. It is a small door that is hooked to a variable sensor that opens and closes with the amount of air that is going thru it. The other type is either a cone type MAF (same principle, but uses a cone instead of a door, hence the round appearance) or a hot wire MAS. The hot wire one heats a small wire in the direct path of incoming air and measures the amount of voltage used to keep the wire at a certain temp. The more air passing the sensor the cooler it tries to get, which means more volts to keep it at temp. I hope this helps clear up your ?. Sorry, but I don't know which models used which one, just know that the '92 rs uses the door type MAF. Sorry so long, but you just had to ask didn't you!
