How long did it last him? I remember reading somewhere that when they build K series engines they test em at 8600rpm which is obviously more than regular driving conditions which leads me to think that they should be able to withstand a little bit of boost no problem.

Maybe 6 months...but he was using more than a little boost and not being gentle with it.

Colt Cams has several grinds for the ZE and DE but I don't think they have anything specifically for the K8. They might design something for you.

Well, the good thing is, the majority of the parts you're putting into this project can be carried over when you swap your engine... especially your tranny with an lsd. It'll give you better traction by evenly distributing the torque to the front wheels. Our cars are prone to pulling to one-side when on heavy throttle, at least mine was...

It has been done. It is completely custom. It is very expensive. It is still less powerful than the ZE.

It's expensive because nothing just fits. Everything has to be fabricated or modified. A boosted 2.5 DE from a Probe would be stronger and cheaper.

The K series engines that you find in the probes are manufactured by mazda. Some other engines too (i.e. the engines found in early B series pick-ups were the same engine as the ford rangers).

Therefore, still 100% mazda.

All that aside, you're jumping around too much s far as what you keep asking advice on. The advice you will eventually start hearing is pick a route first, then start building it. Figure out how fast you want to go and for how long, then you determine the best way to get there. Everyone's given you a lot of information and opinion, but unless you're gonna hand your keys to someone on these boards and say "go to town", you're gonna have to decide on your own, what's best for your ride and your pockets. :)

No being a jerk but c'mon. If you're gonna do something crazy, do it, then post up pics and vidoes of this stuff.

If you get stuck along the way, THATS when you know we'll all be here for you.
