ok so in return to an earlyer subject that is related to trans. when you swap to a mtx from a atx in a dohc 1.6 mx3 there are questions on the TPS. so to answere, both the atx and the mtx mx3 engines use the same 4wire TPS. so, manual and automatic trans dohc 1.6 mx3 ecus use the same wire harness and sensors (including 4 wire TPS). i did the swap a while ago and have both computers. onto next subject.
so the g25mr on the excort gt bp engine bolts onto the mx3 1.6 but, the spline count is defferent. so can we swap the flywheel and clutch from the bp so the trans hooks in. plus the bp flywheel and clutch are bigger and better.
what i am building is a fresh rebuilt 1.6 dohc motor, turbo, arp rod bots, megasquirt, and some other small helpfull parts but nothing to spendy. shooting for 200 hp hoping the stock interternals will be ok with it and its not to much a g25mr will blow up. another quick question is, what is the part of the trans that everyone seems to blow up and can i buy something to beef it up a little.

this motor will prob only be in for 6 or seven months will i finish my zetec build. zetec 2.0 with full turbo set up and water intercooler, im getting oil squirters machined in, forged internals, knifed and cryod crank, lightened flywheel and race clutch, turbo cams on svt head ( no need to spend all that money on a ford racing head, the svt head is a great flowing head) and using the 6speed svt focus trans with custom axles (looking into changing gear ratios for turbo motor) all ran by megasquirt3. i have most of the parts as it stands, just have to start the build but i want to put the 1.6 in first so i have something to zip around in.

Just to clear things up, the ATX and MTX having the same TPS is an anomaly. BP's do not follow this rule.

What do you mean the spline count is different? for the clutch disc? That would make sense that a G series transmission uses a different spline count for the clutch disc than the F series.

So you can use an F series flywheel, maybe an G series pressure plate (surely an F) and for sure a G series disc.

mx3 dohc 1.6 clutch disc is 7 7/8 in and 20 spline
bp is 8 1/2 in and 22 spline
the bp disc is 5/8 in bigger and i doubt that will fit the pressure plate on the 1.6 flywheel. i would say best senario is to use the bp flywheel if pos. seems like it should be. ill get one and see. another thing is i want to get the final gear to be the same or as close as pos as the gear in my mx3. i want to keep my cruzing mpg. that is why right now i am running a stock motor with boost for power.

well if you can get a bp flywheel to fit the 1.6 then there you go but im joining in in the middle so maybe i should shut up :P

You'd have to check PP and clutch disc sizes... different for different manufacturers. B6 flywheel does fit on a BP, I've done it.

then you did not do what i would have done. i would have made it fit. machine shops are every where more less. bring your old one and the new one and they can make it fit for you. nothing is impossible just harder then others.

you can do it two ways make the bp flywheel fit by moding the mount holes or make the flywheel plait oversize on the b6 to fit the bp clutch .

does the bp cluch fit the holes on the b6 flywheel?

That is exactly what I'm not sure of, if the BP pressure plate bolts onto the B6 flywheel. John (Dark_Rider2k3) would know.

The pressure plate holds the other side of the clutch disc.

flywheel | disc | pressure plate

So.. yeah the PP is what you bolt onto the flywheel.

ok cool thanks for that :P

small off topic but you did a bpt swap before right?

You've just charged yourself with re-writing it, Mr. Know-it-all. Give'r.

Or at least quit being such a d---. Got any knowledge to share, or are you just going to peck together borderline incoherent babble expressing your clear superiority?
