took me 3000 to get a decent working car...that i could drive the piss outa without rattles or worring a wheel was going to fall off...

HEADS UP: newb on newb advice...

The O ring... I may be way off base here but aren't the head gaskets actually rubber? Not an "O" ring but... and this could also account for hte white smoke (coolant blow by) - he did say he see's a puff upon accleleration...

Having the head gaskets done by a shop is spendy I hear... but would it be 900?

SSSShhh, don't spead BS. No way in hell headgaskets are rubber. Ours are Multi Layer Steel (MLS).

besides that, what the hell mechanic would call a head gasket an o-ring??
