No brain fart after all. Found Vaughn's comments but they are somewhat confusing, to me anyway 'cause he writes about front and rear suspension in the same paragraph. Assuming this 22mm swaybar can be installed, hope I don't have to break out the MIG welder one day, cuz I don't have a MIG welder and dunno how to weld if I did have one. :welder: Vaugh wrote:

I have a set of urethane bushing that I don't even remember where they came from for the front control arms & rear trailing arms and a set of aftermarket rear lateral links with urethane bushings. So when I have the suspension apart I'll finally get a chance to install them. While I'm working under the car I'll have to break out the MIG welder and beef-up some of the mounting points. As many of you know I have been running with a 23mm rear anti roll bar with spherical bearing end-links for a few years now. The big problem with this is there is no give like the OEM pieces some the factory attachment points get torn out from the additional stress."

Jeremy, where are you at on this now? I just sent an email to ZX Tuner querying this specific situation. No response in the last day.

Anyone else had success or lack of, with the install of this sway bar??

Copy of email recieved from ZX Tuner (Rob Green)

hi john,

your sway bar shipped last week - on 10/5/05. I recommend you refuse
shipment and have it returned to sender. Once recieved, I'll credit your
account. As for claiming the bar doesn't fit - Jeremy did email me and I
asked for details, but have not recieved a reply. I do need some sort of
pictures or detailed desription to see exactly what he is referring to prior
to changing the application guide, since it could then be installer error
rather than an engineering problem.

regards,
rob green

Hi Rob
Thanks for that information. Yes indeed there has been that clearance issue brought to our membership's attention by a member named Jeremy. Apparently there is an interference issue with the suspension. So in fact your fitmant to the MX3 as described in the application guide was not based on a practical application of R&D rather an assumption based on other applications to other model years. With all of this confirmed, please do not ship my sway bar until you can do the necessary R&D to confirm correct application. Upon which, when it's clearly determined that the sway bar will indeed fit correctly, please ship at that time. If however, it is determined through accurate R&D that it will not fit than please advise so as to make arrangements for a full refund. Regards,

John Schrauwen

Unfortunately I received email after I recieved sway bar in the mail. It's apparent that the necessary R&D was not done as I described. Sway bar will remain in original shipping package until this can be rectified. Need those that have encountered this to speak up and confirm Jeremy's claims, one way or the other please. If no clear resolution within a reasonable time period, I'm going to ship it back anyway. A lesson learned on my part for future considerations. Going to have to ask very clear and direct questions about possible products in the future.

So any any case are they going to try to fix the issue or just say screw it?

My swaybar should be arriving any day so will hafta let you know what I see... Weather permitting 'cause no garage here and the forecast is four days of rain starting tomorrow. I'll take pics too. If, as Jeremy observed, there is a prob w/the oversized mounting brackets causing clearance problems, I may try a workaround. I have a spare rear set of 22mm ES urethane bushings and standard size brackets that may not stick out as far as the oversized brackets that come with the zxtuner bar.

Anyway, I'll scare up my ES bushings/brackets tonight and see what the dealio is wid my own eyeballs when Rob's product arrives. Now let's see, where is my extra ES stuff... nuthin up ma sleeve... must be around here somewhere... doh!

NEXT BIG MOD - building a damn garage! (after I send the last tuition payment for the last one in school next year :D )

One of the proviso's of any house I build or buy ... must have a garage (1.5 at least). Tuition...... ouch, thank God I started a scholarship trust fund for my daughter when she was born. It won't cost me a dime when she goes to University in 3 years (theoretically speaking). And she's not interested in driving a stick so that saves the MX for me .... wooohhoooooo!!!

damn.. i was kinda hoping this was a cool deal, cuz my whiteline bar was so damn expensive, and i really didnt notice a difference in handling AT ALL from it.

Product arrived yesterday but w/lousy weather & heavy work schedule this week, won't be able to assess fitment til the coming weekend. Fingers crossed that this bar can be installed relatively trouble-free because it appears well made & is one heavy-duty mutha.

Since papa roached (Jeremy) previously noted that it was the oversized mounting brackets causing fitment interference, I'll start by sizing up that situation first and go from there. Haven't found my spare set of ES 22mm bushings/brackets yet, just to have them on hand as an alternative, but they're around here somewhere in da ole home spare parts inventory...

On a brighter note, at least the search of spare parts stashed around the house has already yielded enough hardware to maybe start building another car... from scratch. That machine would be somewhat unique as a custom combo 5gen-Celica/2gen-626/1gen-MX6/MX-3 & if I stumble across my spare set of Pratt & Whitney turbines, it could be jet powered too - j/k... Please somebody help me... to keep away from ebay. Quality parts auctioned at a mere fraction of their original MSRP are hard to resist sometimes.

With luck I'll size up fitment with the new bar and brackets on Sunday. Stopped raining here and supposed to get better weather. Will post what I find.
