His youtube video has been edited and says the timing belt tensioner failed.
Just thought I say that so there is some closure. Also, I believe this just happened to my engine too

Wouldn't have to worry about it failing..and i think after shipping, you will still save $3-4 and never have to replace it again.
I had to buy one for my first KLDE and it was around $90-95.

^ I've just ordered one for myself too. Thinking of leaving the timing covers off as well....

I wouldn't leave the lower off. It will be impossible to ignition time it without timing marks and on top of that, I regularly drive down dirt/rocky roads and knowing my luck with the 3.....it would never end well.
