I'd say just screw trying to salvage that harness. Its messed.
If the car is pre 1995, I'd say just get a B6 SOHC engine harness and fuel rail harness. Plug it all in happy mary jane, run the VICS wires and the proper hardware, call it a day.
Post 1995 (OBDII) gets complicated and messy and you're stuck doing a hack job... I don't even know what I'd suggest. I tried very hard to avoid that mess myself.
