I may not be a fan of most customized interiors but I can respect the work. That stuff's pretty dang nifty, especially the JDM panel. I never really thoutht about it but handles on the driver's side are nice... good job.

Good price on the pedals@ $52. I pd. $80 USD on ebay - seller "Autovation" - for a set of MX-3 glass beaded-finished ones a few years ago. Lotta ppl inquire for a source of these on this board. Didja post the link for others to see in any other forum/thread?

Here the Mx-3 pedals. Installation wasn't too bad.



The door sills were super easy to install. When they came in, they actually were in a Mazda box, they're an OEM Mazda product. Kinda neat



My old Pioneer 8400 died just a few days before ImportFest. I had my eye ona new deck since it came out, so I went out and got it. Kinda the wrong time of the year for such a large expense (and my computer motherboard dying just 2 months out of warranty the week prior ) , but the same thing in the end anyway, and I got a *great* deal on it...so I got a new toy:

Oscar from PakfeiferTuning.com had a booth there this year, so I picked up a few things from him. Including a carbon fiber rad support. I put a pakfeifer sticker on it as well.

Since I'm posting, might as well do an update.

Started gathering parts for my N/A rebuild. So I got
- New ZE Curved-neck Intake Manifold with TB from Relisys_3200
- Millenia S Injectors from hppwdn
- ZE Heads w/o Cams from mx3autozam

Slow start, still need a block and decide to go from there, so far, was thinking an 0.050 overbore kit (~2.6l) & increasing the compression. The heads have already been shaved, and will need to be again to be put on a new motor, so the question is what compression pistons should I get. Was thinking at least 10.5:1. I want to get Interprep cams with their valvetrain setup, but get 1mm overbore valves. I'm also unsure if i should get new rods, I want to keep it light, if forged ones do weight more, staying lighter would make it rev more freely.

Still alot to be decided, but I pretty much gurantee that It'll take me a years at least to gather all the parts and get the work done, but I want to get a truck next year too, so I'll have to see what's managable.

Xmas was good to me, especially the G/f, she got me new Clarion SRR1616 6.5" speakers that are for the rear, a pair of Clarion 1" SSS500 tweeters with crossover, as well as a new set of tires all around, she had my Kumho Estra 712's for the rears, but the Kumho Mx's are arriving for another few days. I'm actually quite upset about her spending the money on getting them, but I'm not going to argue, saves me the cash. Mind you, I did spoil her as well for xmas as well, but she did spend more than me.

Tranny work kinda started. Starting taking apart my spare tranny, Going to get the casing blasted and powder coated (blue i would like) before she goes back together. As well, I need to find a place that will weld and balance my MSP LSD before that does in as well, but it's xmas time, i'll worry about that later. As long as it's ready and in for the Ottawa trip in May, I'm happy. The only things left on my checklist for that is a Fidenza Flywheel, ClutchMaster Stage 3 clutch, and I could very like to get some MazdaSpeed motormounts and polyfill them.

As well, I'll post back in a few days, got a line on some new parts, just hafta wait and see on it.

Well, I had found some E-Spec lenses on eBay.de, but they went for about $150 per lense. I really wanted them, but didn't have the money, damn Christmas spending

Went to the wreckers a few weeks ago, before I left back for Virginia. Went there to get a few items for the 626 (tail light, wiper arms, visors) I happened to stumble across an SE Mx-3. Everything was there *except* for the front leather seats. Took the whole interior basically. The rear leather seats (which are mint, besides for 2 really small tears on seams), the folding seat back (mine's ripped), the passenger side door pannel and the rear side pannels (the girlfriend accidentailly cracked the drivers side one), and they even left the heated seat switches, which I took also, with connector and as much harness as possible. Looks like something was spilt on one, but I took them appart to test the wiring to i can wire them up. Need to do a custom wiring job since the SE seat connectors are different than the connectors you fund under the center console. While they ere apart, I cleaned out the stick liquid that was spilt, and refrubed the contacts and switch mechanism, they work great now, click nicely.

As well, Havoc (from Team SlipStream) found some SE front seats. He decided to sell them last week, so I bought them off of him, just need to go pick them up next time I'm back in Canada, but the girlfriend (with her friend, since she doesn't drive) may be making a trip up to Whitby, especially since we forgot one of her good pillows at TSS (Mazda3) John's house on New Years Eve.

I bought a 3-pod A-Pillar from therealstasman, should be getting that in this week. Now I just need some guages...but in time, just need to figure out which ones and what style.

I'm going to have ALOT of stuff to do when I pull the car out in spring, when I'm back home.

Do you have a step by step on how you relocated the stock cruise control switches? Or even a diagram on what wire connects to what... I could figure out the rest on my own...

I bought a Momo steering wheel but I would love to still be able to use the cruise control. I was trying how to figure out how I would mount the switches and I really like your idea!

Step-by-step, I dont, but I pretty much remember how to. If you have any questions, PM me or MSN me @ mfortin2(at)cogeco.ca. Also, talk to "Bling Bling", i've helped him recently on that mod as well, so he could give you infomation in relation to a different perspective.

Check out this thread, I posted alot of information in regards to the mod. In essence, the only 2 hard parts really:

- modifing the column cover for the switch, which isn't that bad. You need to remove or cut away at the rubber padding on the inside for the switch to fit, as well, to keep the hole to a minimal size, you'll need to take apart the switch, which is easilly doable with a philips screwdriver (just don't loose the parts on the inside), than reassemble it through the cover. As well, make sure to use stong glue. I used strong hot melt, but it lasted only for several weeks, i changed to an epoxy and that's been working well for over a year now.

- modifing the ring to pass the power of the horn to the hub. That's all explained in the thread linked above. You'll beed to cut the connector flush for the hub to sit on the column, as well, what I did was drill a hole in the hub to pass a power wire to the horn button. And a note (although this may not be for all hubs), the connector that in the hub on mine wasnt' ground, so i grouneded to the wheel bolts on the backside as ground.

OK... thanks alot for the info. I am pretty handy with a dremel so I'm not too worried about the modifying. I use a glue called "the welder" and it seems to work really well with plastics as well as metals.

I'm curious also about your stainless steel scuff guards. Do precidias in canada have metal underneath where you screw them down? I got my hands on a set of rare eunos metal scuff guards (from a eunos presso) but I haven't put them on yet because on US mx-3's there is hole where you would screw it down. I don't have any idea how to attach them!

Actually the scuff guards don' get screwed down directly to the body. I was actually kinda worried about that, but what you do is that you have plastic inserts that goes into the holes that the OEM plastic guards go, but you screw into the inserts, which expands them as well as holds the scuff guard to the insert.

Been a while since an update. Been busy working and working on the Mx-3

Tranny project is moving along well, everthing is in order at the moment, just waiting for powdercoating to be done (which I was suppose to call today but forgot) and get my parents to pick them up and bring it to my mechianic to start the re-assembly. Powdercoated is being done by a shop in St Catherines, estimate around $200 with another shot of being blasted because it oxydized after the last one while sitting.

Also got my MazdaSpeed Protege LSD welded and balanced. Although doing research it was highly recommended to get it balanced, I didn't come across any who actually did. It's quite convinient, the powdercoating, welding and balancing places are all really close together. Cost me $60. Was preheated for the weld and he even wrapped it to let it cool slowly, took over 12 horus to cool actually, but this guy knew exactly that I needed done, was quite impressed.

I don't have pics of the balanced LSD, yet. My parents picked it up for me since it took a bit, they didn't know if they could because of the shaft inside the LSD apparently not being able to put it on the machine, but they did anyway, so I'm quite happy about that. Cost me $40

- New (yep, got another set) of MazdaSpeed motor mounts. However those will be polyfilled, haven't been done yet.

Unfortunately on my drive back for my week off, I was driving the Mx-3 home and the slave cylinder failed while I was in Washington D.C. (Of course if decides to fail then :S). So after a tow back, I dropped her at the shop which couldn't get her ready until next week, she needed a clutch line as well since it colapsed because of the dead slave cylinder, although there was slave's in stock around, the clutch line was special order, so I ordered a new stainless steel clutch line from CorkSport and would drop it off when I returned.





The guy in the first pic is Dave, a co-worker that wanted to ride back with me, but unfortuantely got stuck through the ordeal, but was a really good sport about it, tad too optimistic tho. And here a pic of the rental I had for my week off, not bad for US$21/day unlimited milleage (Put on just under 2000 miles). Was actually a fun car, first time driving a convertible actually too. V6 auto.






I got new, and I mean *new* leathers seats from J-Beef at the Mississauga Mazda Meet back in May. They are abslutely gorgeous. I have the rears as well from him, but I didn't bother swapping them in at the moment, they're sitting back in Niagara at the moment. Unfortunately I sacrifice the "heated" seats for these, but it was well worth it, and will be fixed sometime before the cold I hope.

Also, thanks to Mooneggs (thanks immensely man!) I got a front fog light switch. I'm so happy on how well it looks, cleans it right up. Much better than that ghetto blue switch from Radio Shack I had. Modded it with a blue LED, of course





As well, I finally implemented a rear fog light. The switch is easilly found in an Escort GT. Put in a blue LED as well






The wiring for the rear fog light. I was tempted to do both inner tails, but in the end, I decided to only do the inner drivers side, as per JDM/EDM spec. Here's a few pics. I'll post up a write-up on this later; possibly sometime this weekend. I wired them up so it's only allowed to get turned on when the running lights are on. It does not affect the runing light on that light, or the brake light when the fog isn't activated. Essentially it *is* the brake light when activated.

I've not read your worklog before. You've done a ton of work and it all looks great. Super props on such a well done ride. I know I've said that before in other posts with pics of your car, but I think this is the first I've seen the engine parts or the interior. That leather is sweet and you probably have the best looking set anywhere. (jealous) The car should be a good bit more fun with the LSD and MSnS. 200 WHP and hardly and wheel spin, it is going to be a good bit faster.
